Ada - Forty Winks

Ada - Forty Winks
IRR
Areal's new sister label IRR welcomes Ada with her fabulous two tracker EP, "Forty Winks".

IRR (International Records Recordings) reaches it's third release with one of the best and most melancholic acts on the Areal crew: Ada. Michaela Dippel aka Ada has already accomplished a true sound universe for herself and is famous for her melodically saturated and yet beat driven live electronic music performances. What she does with bunch of oldschool equipments is just amazing. She loves to use analogue equipment and usually blends them into her sound.

"Forty Winks" opens with a real Ada style Detroit beatdown. What we have here is more than a beatdown in fact, almost a beatless piece full of melancholy and mood explosion. Ada is again showing respect to guitar riffs as we are used to hear from the recent IRR releases and also Metope's AR sub label. IRR is mostly seems to be into guitar driven music with a deep aspect of house and 4/4 beats. Ada has done such a beautiful piece of music. You can hear her strange vocals at the ending of the track "Forty Winks", probably one of the best melodic arrangements I have heard since Ezekiel Honig's and Palac's albums.

"Kink-A-Jou" the B side track of the EP finishes it's IRR mission with blurred kicks and distorted 8-bit groove, supported with raw snares and cymbals. Again 'Le Mood A La Ada' takes control of the track and drives it as high as happy times you had in your childhood. Ada's music is melancholic but never sad. It has a unique positiveness formula in it which makes Ada a very special and talented artist among most Cologne and German artists. A very well defined, highly crafted, by heart EP from Ada. 'Killing Me Softly' producer of minimal house.
