With a huge influence from Chicago where he is currently residing and of course from Detroit, he is doing the purest, finest and deepest techno tunes around under his own label Emphasis Records since 1998.
He has done such great releases, under his name Tang and now we here him again under his Obsolete Music Technology guise which was recently seen on Arne Weinberg's delicious compilation "Viewpoints Chapter One" on AW. Under Obsolete Music Technology moniker, Steven Tang produces tracks in an old skool way, mostly analogue and using tape decks for recording and dubbing.

As you can predict, some killer hardware is also in charge of the business. Steven Tang is pure techno! You should hear his obsolete techno funk and deepness. He is one of the techno guys around with a real fashion and style. All Tang tracks and Emphasis releases are unique enough. Here in the "Inner Voice" EP we get three tracks, all in different moods. "Lowjack" is an angry jack which will kick you in the ass for dancing. "Inner Voice" is pumping Detroit melody with a real string and pad storm. And the last gem "Evenin Star" which is also my favourite, is the real melodic storm you will get.
If you love deep sounds and Detroit or Chicago based melodic techno or rather call it 4/4 deepness, it is your felony not to be aware of this very talented guy yet! So start digging.
