Ed Handley & Andy Turner have been silent for a while but of course they have been working hard on various projects during the time and Warp has just unleashed one of those projects, a soundtrack from Plaid.

Michael Arias' first live-action movie "Heaven's Door" is about a 28-year-old man and a 14-year-old girl who learn they have three days to live. They decide to "break out" of the hospital in a convertible, since the girl has never seen the ocean before. Michael Arias made his name up with his fantastic debut anime film "Tekkonkinkkreet". He has tried a completely different work with this Japanese film which is infact an adoptation of a 1997 German film named "Knockin' On Heaven's Door".

Film premiere was done some time ago in Japan and we are eager to see it here too but firstly we will take our times with the soundtrack of the film which was made by the Plaid duo. 16 track soundtrack of "Heaven's Door" is a complete journey through the Plaid discography and taste with a Tokyo dust on.

We can see and feel the Japan effect on Ed and Andy. They have done such intimate and soft tracks full of familiar melodic arrangements this time based on a tough cinematographic context and a very strong ambient texture. Tracks like "Host" will make Plaid fans very happy especially these days, we really need the positive vibes of Plaid and this soundtrack will be our medicine to feel a bit better.

Other sides of the duo arise within the soundtrack. Improvisational jazzy side with "Ishus" or devient dubby side with "Not Hearing A Word". Really good news for the fans of Plaid and for the people who love soundtracks. "K3", "Tokyo Dive" and "Seeking" are rather classical Plaid arrangements with a real flow and "Durban Pain" kind of tracks are the experimentations on other sound scapes. A really fine done, East flavoured tasty soundtrack which will attract any kind of music lover. just like the film and the director would do.
