Kenny Larkin has never did such a dance floor friendly album in his whole carrer and i guess it did not took so long for Carl Craig to have a desicion on releasing this fantastic LP from his own output. And there it was, Kenny Larkin's last musical work since he decided to sell every item in his studio and move from Detroit.

But even if he moves somewhere else, he can not leave behind his carrer as a pioneer Detroit techno producer. This retrospective album from Rush Hour is really something to talk about. Something really big. This is a remastered collection of the series which were also released as seperate 12"s in the past. Voyeuring the old days of this brillian man, "The Chronicles" LP contains all pseudoynms and monikers of Kenny Larkin. His productions are mostly off beat or beatdown. Just think about his mate Carl Craig who is known to be very fussy on releasing full lentghs from his label, has immediately released Kenny's work, which only containing keys, strings and tambourines!

Ambient textures or soundscapes always have the starring role in Larkin's discography. Yet he managed to release such classical dance gems and put his name among the first and second generation Detroit producers. He is a real techno hero. But he wants to be a comedian. Let him do what he wants. Shoot photos and make people laugh. We have enough good music to hear from him. Do you need proof? Go to "The Chronicles" and make a wish. A key, a string and a tambourine! This is all about it! You just need a black heart and a brave soul to blend it into something real. Something called techno, or electronic music. Kenny Larkin is one of the veterans and we have no doubt that he will always be there. Rather as a comedian or a techno producer. Think about how would techno sound without Kenny. I started with a word from him, and i finish it with the help of him too: "Can you imagine the world without sound?"...
