DFA released it as three seperate pieces and one CD but in fact Black Meteoric Star's same named debut is to be considered as a whole. As a journey to outer space for the man named Gavin Russom, his newest beats and analogue experiments gathered in a very deviant and spectacular project called Black Meteoric Star.

His hip-hop days, punk memoirs and psychedelic dreams come true with a limited set of tools, a drum machine, a synth and a specially designed processor. I bet you have not heard a TR-707 been used this way. This is the über experimental acid techno album you can get. Sonic Youth or Einstrürzende Neubaten doing acid! A real rocker, psychedelic guitar man starts to play with the conventions of Chicago house and Balearic space disco and after long night clubbing rituals in Berlin he combines all his savings for a monster 'Shoegazer's acid house dream come true' album.

This is real big and the album already led a strom around various dance floor scenes. For me it is one of the most important releases DFA ever did. Black Meteoric Star proves how experimentalism and open mindedness can be used as a weapon against the conventions themselves. Conventions become the real part of the experiment. Real good one, check it out immediately! I am sure you have not heard acid house like this before. Let's finish with an ambitious cliché; 'Acid house will never be the same'. Even Ceephax is probably embarrassed. BMS has done such a fresh and unusual work. Brilliant!
