Andrew Rasse aka Butane is one of the most important figures from Midwest. He put St. Louis on the minimal techno map with his well crafted sound and forward thinking Alphahouse label. Here comes his second LP this time surprizingly from another label, Crosstown Rebels. The premiere of the new album will be made at Weekend Club Berlin on 4th of July. And then Butane will be playing around Europe. His album 'Endless Forms' is fully dedicated to the great evolution theorist Charles Darwin. The album starts with 'This Is Your Brain On Music' explaining why nature effects our artistic perception and understanding. All album firstly sound like a regular minimalist move but after a while you begin to feel the conrete conceptualization and detailing in every bit.

Butane's second LP is a very good example of how conceptually strong a conventional dance album can be. His sound is already above the line but with this hommage to Darwin theories and evolution, his tracks gain a deeper meaning and a darker edge. Really conceptual and musically very talented work. 'Almost Finished' is probably the hardest track in the LP for an avarage listener but, if Einstrürzende Neubaten would do techno, I bet they would sound exactly like this. Real good detailing makes the taste of the album real good in every crumb you take or hear. Very good work from Butane, escalating him to the league of big names and real minimal reformists.
